Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

We live in a world that’s the most digitally connected ever—yet we’re also the least physically connected we’ve ever been as a society.

And here’s the thing: success doesn’t happen in a silo. In other words, you need connections as a horse business owner!

PSA: Your customers are craving connection, too, whether they acknowledge it or not.

That’s why Jodi Lynch Findley with Jodi Speaks Life and The Thriving Equine Professional Podcast is on the podcast.

She’s passionate about teaching people the practical ways you can build meaningful connections in the equestrian world and beyond.

LinkedIn

It is not just another social network—it is truly a professional network that can be utilized and leveraged in a unique way compared to the other social media networks we often spend more time on. Find people who are 5 and 10 years ahead of you, doing the things you are interested in and working for organizations and brands that you are interested in, and then go a little farther, reach out to that person to make a connection.

Menteeship

Rather than “mentorship” which is more common, menteeship puts the onus of responsibility on you, the mentee. Find the people that are demonstrating the standard of excellence you are seeking. Our comfort zone is to be with our peers. It's to be with the people we already know, the people at our barn, or in and around our peer group.

When we start to look for those folks who are ahead of us, we’re forced to be a little better, to speak a little bit more articulately, to stand a little taller, to become better people. We tend to listen to them and take heed on the things they say and the advice and coaching they provide.

Curiosity

If you become more curious about yourself, then you automatically become a little bit more curious about others. By being curious about other people, you become more versatile as a human being, more impactful, more listening, more understanding of others. You become less judgmental and more collaborative.

The world needs less judgmental and more collaborative, and that starts with curiosity rather than judgment.

Service

The time you dedicate to serving others is important for your own fulfillment, in who you are, what you do and why you do what you do. There are many options, including service by mentorship, serving your church or serving some organization or some group of people, or your community. If we come back to a little bit of a service-mindedness, we're going to see the power of those kinds of connections that feed our soul.
