10 Creative Ways to use QR Codes In Your Business

With QR codes popping up everywhere from restaurants to Superbowl ads to everything in between, how can you as an everyday horse business owner use them in your marketing?

Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!

If you’ve been to a restaurant lately or an event of any kind, you’ve likely seen a QR code. But, have you considered how you could use them in your own business?

That’s what we’re diving into on this episode.

First, what exactly is a QR code? It looks like a square with a digitized image, and that’s about right. Essentially, it’s a machine-readable code that’s typically used for storing URLs (think of it as a web address), and it’s readable by the camera on a smartphone.

When QR codes first started being used in marketing, you had to get people to download a special QR code reader app. But now that smartphones will let you scan with the built-in camera so that when you tap on the link that pops up it’ll open in the browser on your phone, QR codes are more accessible than ever.

So, how can your business jump in and take advantage of this fun technology? First, you need to know how to create a QR code.

Thankfully, it’s not as hard as you might think. Canva – my favorite design tool for horse business owners – has a simple tool you can use to create a QR code and save it as the file type you need, which is most likely a jpg. You can do this even if you are using the free version of Canva.

As long as you have your specific link ready, you can create as many different QR codes as you need to – you’ll need one for each specific link you’re referring people to.

Now that you know how to make it, what do you do with it?
