Are you getting new leads, clients, and customers for your horse business from your time on social media? If your equestrian social media marketing is falling flat, follow these three steps to start seeing real results.
Welcome to the show notes! Remember, this is a brief summary from the How to Market Your Horse Business podcast. You'll want to listen to the entire episode for all the good stuff!
Has social media been feeling like a necessary evil for your horse business?
You know there's supposed to be value in being on social media for your horse business. You want to grow your horse business, and social media marketing is what everyone talks about, so you’re there. But, you’re not seeing growth.
Your account isn't growing, your posts don’t seem to be reaching anyone, and you feel like the time you’re spending on the apps is being wasted.
One of the most common reasons social media doesn’t work equestrian entrepreneurs is theyr're looking at what everyone else is doing and just applying that to their horse business.
Sound familiar? Rather than having a strategy behind your equestrian social media marketing, rather than knowing what the purpose is for your business, you’re paying attention to what everyone else is doing around you. Copy and paste — that's your strategy.
The reality is your business is unique, you're a unique entrepreneur, you have a unique audience, and your goals are personal to you.
Your unique business and audience is what should be in the driver’s seat of your equestrian social media marketing — not what everyone else is doing.
So, what should you do to build your horse business using social media?
First, realize there’s no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to your equestrian social media marketing.
In this episode, I’ll give you three things that will 100% help you make progress and meet your goals.
I've seen it work for myself, and I've seen it work for my coaching clients in Take the Reins.
When you do these three things well it will work—but it is not a quick fix.
You understand that being with horses, training, riding all those things is a process, right? It's not a quick fix.
It's the same thing with your equestrian social media marketing.
As you start applying the following three steps remember that growth is a process.
If you trust the process and follow these steps, you will get more leads and build your horse business using social media.
Three Steps to Fix Your Equestrian Social Media Marketing
Start with your audience.
If you do not know who you are best fit to work with as an equestrian business, and then you jump into social media and you just start creating content, it is very likely going to fall flat.
When you have no clarity on who you are marketing to, neither do the people who see your content on social media. And when they can’t clearly identify if you are for them or not, they’ll just keep scrolling past your content and you’ll miss out on a potential new customer.
Define success.
Remember why you got on social media for your horse business in the first place—to build your business and connect with your best-fit audience. So, what does success look like for you? And, how are you going to track your progress to get there?
You may have heard me and other marketing coaches say to not chase vanity metrics such as the number of social media followers you have. But, I’ve learned that vanity metrics have more to do with mindset than the number you're tracking. Your follower count can be an important measure because it lets you know that you are getting your content in front of more people.
However, remember, you need to also be sure you are growing your account with more of the best-fit people who are likely to become your clients and customers. You’re not here to be an influencer—you’re here to book new clients and customers for your horse business.
Consistently show up.
Just as you can’t expect big results from riding your horse once a week, your equestrian social media marketing will be most effective when you consistently show up online.
Commit to a cadence that honors your capacity and your goals, and then put a system in place that will help you make it happen.
The best way to be consistent is to have a clear and doable plan. That’s what craft together inside Take the Reins, my 1:1 coaching program for growth-oriented equestrian entrepreneurs.
